18mo.Full vellum. Title written on spine. [14], 266p.p., [4] leaves of plates [1 folding] including frontis. Bumped edges, boards slightly warped, some soiling to spine partially affecting the title. Some yellow staining to pages, with pen markings on verso of front free endpaper and fly leaf. Otherwise in good condition. Cornelis van Alkemade was a historian and antiquities collector. He studied law at the University of Leiden, and became a notary in 1680. He contributed works on the history of Rotterdam. Translated from the title, this book is an "introduction to the ceremonial and the ceremonies of burial and heraldry."
