Fore-edge painting is very colourful and detailed, not seen in other copies of the book, and is in fine condition. Red endpapers. Bumping to corners and rubbing to spine. Some staining to endpapers. Otherwise book is clean, in near fine condition. Milman was an English historian and poet, he won the Newdigate prize with a poem on the Apollo Belvidere in 1812, was elected a fellow of Brasenose in 1814, and in 1816 won the English essay prize with his Comparative Estimate of Sculpture and Painting.
