Bayard Taylor [1825-1878] was an American travel writer and poet, who had an 'enthusiastic desire of visiting the Old World' since early childhood, and set sail for Liverpool on 1st July, 1844, a journey that spanned two years and more than three thousand miles on foot through Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and France. Views Afoot retraces his steps. Rubbing to boards, edges. Spine ends bruised. Sporadic yellow spots to green cloth to covers and inner and outer edges.
