Two Volumes in One. Half-bound in brown calf over yellow-marbled boards. Edges in yellow. Vol. I: [8] xliv, [2] 27-132 p.p.; Vol. II: [2] 3-268 p.p. Pastoral head and tail-pieces. Includes a list of subscribers. A History of the Waldensians, an ascetic group of Christians, founded by Peter Waldo in 1173, Lyon. The group originated in the western valleys of Piedmont, Italy. The book describes the history of the movement from the 12th to the end of the 18th century. It also contains a fragment of a poem in the Waldensian language, and the Catechism of the Waldensians. Jacques Brez [1771-1798] was a pastor, entomologist and historian. Light wear to corners and outer edges. Spine ends rubbed. Calf cracked on spine. Pages lightly foxed. Sporadic staining to leaves. Otherwise in very good condition.
