With sixteen illustrations in colour incl. frontis. 193 p.p. Original illustrated beige cloth with gilt titling and colour vignettes to front board and spine. Bumping to spine ends and corners, a few spots to rear boards. Roughly cut edges, some leaves uncut. Minor wear and soiling to dust jacket, creasing to rear cover. This selection of quatrains, attributed to Omar Khayyam (1048-1131), dubbed "the Astronomer-Poet of Persia," was originally translated to English from Persian by Edward Fitzgerald in 1859.
