Facing translations, Latin and German. Full marbled paper boards, green spine label wtih gilt lettering. XXXI, 253 pp. Spine sunned, a few scuffs and pricks to boards, worse at rear. Evidence of repair/rebacking/rebinding at spine ends and corners; newer-looking endpapers; inner hinge repairs to title page, p. xvii, p. 239, and rear fly leaf. Binder's ticket of Ludwig Weber, Munich, to rear paste down. Laid in are a handwritten note, a newspaper clipping entitled "Rote Erde" (The Land of the Red Earth," as Westphalia has been known), and a clipping of a reproduction of a woodcutting from another volume about the history of Westphalia (apparently from a magazine). Werner Rolevinck (1425-1502) was a Carthusian author, born in Laer. He died in 1502 of the plague. De Laude Veteris Saxoniae nunc Westphaliae Dictae (c. 1478) is one of his most enduring works, and it covers the history of his homeland in Westphalia.
