[N.d., ca. 1890s?] Five series bound in one volume. Full burgundy cloth, gilt title to spine. Speckled edges. xvi, 160. [40] coloured plates; xv, 160, [41] plates; xv, 160, [40] plates; xv, 160, [42] plates. B&W floriated initials and tailpieces depicting each flower, as well as one colour plate per flower described, for a total of 204 colour plates across the five series. Previously recased, binding appears to be early 20th century. Spine faded, some light staining to boards, a few small spots of wear to edges. Ink ownership inscription to ffep. Light foxing and rust staining. Some staining to edges of text block (worse at rear). Offsetting from pressed flower between series two and three. A magnificently illustrated volume, figured and described by the author, and it stands as his most famous work.
