Green cloth, rebacked with original spine laid down, iv, 192pp; v, 195pp. Richly illustrated with 188 chromolithographic plates; owner name on ff/ endpaper, paper repairs to verso of 2nd plate and pp. 192 [Vol. I]; a paper repair to verso of title, contents, and plate 1 [Volume II]. Light foxing, pencil notations in margins, boards and edges a bit faded o/w a very good copy. Anne Pratt [1806-1893] was an English botanist and ornithologist author, illustrator who composed over 20 works on the subject, and is credited with popularizing its study during the Victorian period.
