Contemporary mottled calf, gilt back. Speckled edges. [21], 793, [2]. Spine head chipped, some wear to corners, and joints. Rear joint cracked but firm. Light damp staining to foot of first ~75 pages. The Assertio is divided into three parts, the first confirming the Inquisition, the second listing exemptions and privileges conferred by various popes, and the third instructing responsible persons. The author was doctor of theology at the Sorbonne and royal censor of books. Not in Goldsmith, BM STC French.
