Brown mottled calf with H&S Squire, 1840 stamped in gilt compartment at foot of spine, [10], with complete books of Old & New Testament unpaginated, [approx. 1,000pp] with wonderful woodcut and engraved illustrations, plus one engraved map of the Holy Land. Owner names Samuel and Sarah Squire, dated 1840 on ff/ endpaper, and relative names and dates following end of Old Testament. Light foxing, otherwise near fine. William Henry [1662-1714] was well known and respected for his devotional commentary of the bible, particularly Adam & Eve. His commentated copies were a household name more for than 300 years following his death.
