Thomas Godwyn D.D. (1587-20 March 1642) was an English headmaster and scholar whose first book discusses the Roman Empire and Roman History, from its city, culture, deities, games, laws, wars, etc. The second book by Godwyn details rites and ceremonies used by the Hebrews and comparing them to similar, pagan rituals and customs. The third book by Rous [1581-1689] and Bogan's [1625-1659], religious and puritan writers, covers religion, superstition, customs, burials and history of the Athenian [Greek] city states of Athens and the surrounding territory of Attica.
