Limited 200 numbered printed on velin de Montval paper (160 unnumbered copies, of which this is no. 80). Orig. tan paper printed wrappers and matching slipcase, 270pp, [4]; 417pp, [4]. Text in French. Illustrated with [67] beautiful full page original lithographs by Andre Derain (28 in volume 1 and 39 in volume 2), deckled edges, pages laid-in, a small damp stain on volume one and two Spines, with some sunning Near FIne. Within the tradition of the livre d'artiste. They were conceived by Derain upon commissioned by legendary dealer-publisher Ambroise Vollard in the late 1930s for an edition of Satyricon of Petronius. His death in 1939 halted the project. However, it was later discovered by Col. Daniel Sickles, who brought its work to completion and issued it in this 1950 edition.
