Full yellow calf, red leather spine label lettered in gilt, gilt compartments with crossed arrow motifs, blue marbled edges and end-papers, illustrated half-titles, vi, 7-340; vi, 7-324pp, in-text line-drawings and illustrated end pieces, light foxing, outer joints worn but sound, boards somewhat faded, scuffed. Near Fine. Originally published by English poet Alexander Pope between 1715-1720 in six-volumes, rendered into heroic couplets, met with high praise as a successful epic. Pope takes an Augustan versus Homeric tone in this poem which adds interest to this translation.
