The inscription read: "Monsieur Booth, en souvenir du plasir que j'ai eu a faire sa connaissance et a parler de nombreux sujets, avec mes sentiments devoues, 21 Mai, 1949. Publisher's original priere d'inserer laid-in (two typescript leaves), offering a summary of the book, unopened pages, later pencil code at head of p. 176 but text clean throughout, wrappers toned, lightly soiled, chipping at head of front wrapper and lower rear corner, spine darkened and rubbed with small loss at head and tail.
